The short answer

HomeGuide puts vinyl siding at $4 to $12 per square foot installed, or $8,400 to $25,200 for an average house, with a national average of about $16,800.1 Labor is roughly half of the total.1 We couldn't find a published survey of siding prices for Calhoun County, so these are national numbers. A written estimate from someone who has measured your walls is the only real price.

What pushes the price up or down

Just a few damaged panels?

Repairs are priced differently. HomeGuide lists vinyl repair at $2 to $4 per square foot, single replacement panels at $8 to $60 each, and small hole patches at $50 to $100.3 The storm damage page covers insurance.

Permit fees in Anniston and Oxford

Anniston charges a residential construction permit of $25 for the first $2,000 of the contract amount, then $7 for each additional thousand.4 On a $14,000 siding contract that works out to $25 + (12 × $7) = $109. Repairs appear on Anniston's published permit list.5

Oxford's city website says a permit is needed when changes cost more than $500, labor and materials included.6 Building Services posts its fee schedule online and answers questions at 256-831-9685.7
